Upper Endoscopy

  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Suspected ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding

The Procedure Steps

1

Patient is placed under conscious sedation.

2

A thin, flexible endoscope is guided down the throat.

3

High-def images are transmitted to a monitor for analysis.

4

Biopsies are taken or bleeding is stopped if necessary.

Recovery & Aftercare

The procedure takes about 15 minutes. Patients rest in the recovery bay for an hour before being driven home.
